Joe Ciaglia
Joe Ciaglia is a visionary entrepreneur and leader in both the thoroughbred racing industry and the global skateboarding community. As the CEO of California Skateparks, the world’s leading skatepark design and construction firm, Joe played a pivotal role in designing and building the skateboarding venues for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, helping introduce the sport to a global audience on the biggest stage. In horse racing, Joe’s passion and expertise have driven remarkable success. A current board member of the Thoroughbred Owners of California, he claimed his first horse at Del Mar in 1999, began breeding thoroughbreds in 2004, and started purchasing from public sales and auctions in 2009. Over the years, Joe has campaigned multiple Grade 1 winners, including Weemissfrankie, Dance With Fate, and Eclipse Award champion Champagne Room. His breeding achievements include Ashley’s Folly, dam of multiple Grade 2 winner Ashleyluvssugar and recipient of the 2015 California-bred Broodmare of the Year title.
Larry Zap
Larry Zap, famously known as “The Eye,” is a seasoned expert who has brought a fresh and innovative perspective to the horse racing industry. A key figure on the Southern California racing scene since 1997, Larry began his career as a private clocker, spending five years in the stands meticulously observing and timing horses to refine his craft. As a trusted bloodstock advisor and agent, he has offered invaluable guidance to his clients. Larry’s unique approach to evaluating horses, inspired by mathematical precision and an understanding of form and movement, has been instrumental in identifying exceptional talent. His work has significantly contributed to the success of the horses managed by Ciaglia Racing LLC, enhancing the quality and performance of the stable.
